Smart Bracelet

We will be giving information about this at the Meeting on Thursday Night!!

This is an option.  We will not be doing this as a Troop or Contingent.  If you would like to do this, it is up to you.  I think it is a good program and may fit for your Scout.  Again, it is only an option and not required nor a program our Troop will be doing as a unit.

Easy to set up and FUN to use!

No need to give them cash or credit cards – or – for your Scout to carry a wallet!

You load the funds and monitor their spending from home!

What is the Smart Bracelet?
The Smart Bracelet is a water-resistant, disposable bracelet that acts as a secure account identifier for cashless purchases during the 2010 National Boy Scouts Jamboree. Your Scout can purchase snacks, beverages and supplies from the Trading Posts without the worry of misplaced cash or credit cards during the event.
How do I get a Smart Bracelet for my Scout?
You can get a Smart Bracelet for your Scout by going to
my.freedompay.com/bsajamboree and clicking on the link for FreedomPay, or by calling FreedomPay toll-free at 877-206-0093. In just a few moments, you can personalize and fund your Scout’s bracelet. A bracelet will be shipped direct to your home prior to the Jamboree. Don’t miss out! The link will only be available until July 9th. Bracelets may be purchased and funded on-site however a $20 late addition fee will apply for new accounts.
Where can the Smart Bracelet be used during Jamboree 2010?
Although breakfast, lunch and dinner are included in the admission fee for Jamboree 2010, other snacks, beverages and personal items for purchase at the Trading Posts are not. All vendors at the Jamboree will accept your Scout’s Smart Bracelet for payment. These vendors include:
  • Concession Tents
  • Beverage Tents
  • Trading Posts
  • Mobile Snack Carts
  • Mobile Ice Cream Carts
  • Dunkin’ Donuts, Kettle Corn & other venues
How do I add funds to my Scout’s Smart Bracelet? You can add funds to your Scout’s Smart Bracelet electronically on the FreedomPay Web site with either a credit/debit card or a bank account transfer. Funds are available immediately, and you can add funds as often as you like during the Jamboree. Additionally, FreedomPay offers an optional auto funding feature which will automatically add funds when your Scout’s Smart Bracelet balance reaches $10.
Are there any costs associated with using the Smart Bracelet? There is a one-time $6 administration fee when you start the account and an additional 4.25% of your fund/refund amount to cover the cost of electronic funding. So, the typical account will cost about $10-$15 to set up and fund. This is a real deal when compared to the inconvenience and cost of a lost credit card or misplaced cash; not to mention the inability for further purchases during the remainder of the Jamboree. Your Scout may use the bracelet for unlimited purchases, up to the account balance, during the Jamboree without any additional costs.
What do I get for the Account Setup Fees?
  • Safe, secure and personalized account setup
  • Secure bracelet shipment directly to your home
  • Web access to monitor your Scout’s spending
  • Unlimited electronic funding throughout the event
  • Automated refund of any remaining balance over $5 following the event
  • Your Scout will have convenient access to an on-site FreedomPay Representative in the event of a lost or damaged bracelet. The cost for a replacement bracelet is $5
  • Peace of mind in knowing that your Scout will always have funds available without the risk of lost cash or credit cards
How much money should I put on my Scout’s Account?
The minimum fund amount is $50. However, it is recommended that parents budget about $10-$20 per day for their Scout. Keep in mind that the weather will be warm; the Smart Bracelet will allow your Scout the convenience of enjoying a cold beverage or ice cream with friends without the worry of not having cash readily available.
What if my Scout does not use all of the money on the account?
No problem. As part of your administration and setup fees, FreedomPay will automatically reimburse any remaining balance over $5 back to your credit card or bank account following the Jamboree.
